Center For Working Families (CWF) is open for business in Englewood! Stop by the Center For Working Families which is operated by by Jane Addams Hull House Association located at Kennedy King College, 747 West 63rd Street, Room V-106. (CWF) is a career and personal financial service center directly on the campus. Everyone is encouraged to use this program! All CWF services are provided FREE of charge.
Core Services provided are:
* Employment Services - job readiness training, job placement assistance, job retention support, career advancement services, and enhanced access to education and training opportunities through Kennedy-King College and the City Colleges of Chicago.
* Financial Literacy Services - one-on-one financial coaching
* Income Support Services - assistance accessing all benefits to which clients are entitled, such as Food Stamps, Child Care Subsidies, Utilities Assistance, and Housing.
* Family Net Center Technology --resources are available in the on-site Family Net Center (FNC). The FNC provides computer training an open access resource room, and is a community-based hub for technology learning, education access, and information sharing.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The City of Chicago and UL are proud to present the official start of the holiday season the 98th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Wednesday, November 23, 2011! The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is a highly-anticipated event drawing people of all ages to the heart of Chicago’s downtown “Loop.” Musical performances and festive holiday music begin at 4:30pm and the holiday season officially commences at 5:00pm, when the switch is flipped and the lights begin to dazzle in Daley Plaza.
Music will begin at 4:30pm, tree will be lit at 5pm. Daley Plaza is located at Washington St. and Dearborn St. Admission is free.

Youth Ready Chicago Community Council Region 5 presents After School Program Fest 2011; a free event for the community to showcase and increase the enrollment of youth in after school programs across the region. The community is invited out on Saturday October 1, 2011, to the John L. Yancey Boys & Girls Club, located at 6245 S. Wabash Ave Chicago IL, 60637, from 1pm to 4pm for a day filled with entertainment, fun, and giveaways. Join us RAIN OR SHINE! This event will be moved indoor to the gym if it rains.
Buses will transport people to and from the event leaving from The Center of Change located at 63rd and California and St. Sabina Church located at 7909 S. Racine 60620. CPS Students of all ages and their families are encouraged to attend.

Lights on After School
YOU’RE INVITED TO A CELBRATION!!
Make plans to join Metropolitan Family Services / Midway Youth Center and the Afterschool Alliance to celebrate the importance of afterschool programs, Thursday, October 20th, for Lights On Afterschool!
In communities today, 15.1 million children take care of themselves after the school day ends. Afterschool programs keep kids safe, help working families and inspire learning. Join us, along with 7,500+ afterschool programs nationwide, in celebrating our afterschool programs.
The children will showcase their Social Science project “Latin Culture” completed in the afterschool program, as well as displaying the jewelry designed by the Youth Center Jewelry Club. We will also feature arts and craft activities related to the “Latin Culture” project.
