Healthy Chicago Lawn is a community-based coalition working to improve the overall quality of life and well-being of the Chicago Lawn community area by building awareness, connections, and promoting healthy lifestyles.

The next Healthy Chicago Lawn Meeting will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, 11:00 a.m at Holy Cross Hospital.

Free Training Seminar



The 8 district of Chicago police department and the Chicago Alliance against Sexual Exploitation(CAASE) invite you to attend a training seminar.

The training seminar will educate community members on the issue of sexual exploitation and will provide action steps that communities and individuals can take to create awareness and help end harm. Attendees will be provided with a complimentary toolkit that you can use in your community.


The FBI designated Chicago as a top location for sex trafficking in the United States.

Christ the King College Prep School Fundraiser



Check out this great event raising financial aid funds for students at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep (CTK)!

We would love for you to join our Rising Leaders Council for this event on June 17th 6:30 – 10:30p at the Harold Washington Library. If you are a new donor to CTK, an anonymous donor will add $500 to your donation which will sponsor one student for one semester at Christ the King!

Just a few highlights: DJ Vince Adams, Emcee CBS2’s Rob Johnson, Cocktails courtesy of Grey Goose Vodka, Gourmet Appetizers and Desserts, Global Wine Bar, Premium Beers, Heads & Tails/Raffle. Basically, it’ll be a fun night in support of tuition assistance for our students. Dress is business casual/cocktail.

Tickets are $100 indiv/$150 for a couple. There is also a Group of 10 package for $1,000. Please purchase tickets online by June 13th. (Space is limited, so we can not guarantee ticket availability at the door.)

The Rising Leaders Council is a group of young professionals (25 - 45) who are committed to helping students at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep. We hope you can come and celebrate the end of the school year with them. Free FEMA Training


IMPLEMENTING YOUTH PREPAREDNESS INTO YOUR ORGANIZATION PROGRAM



DHS/FEMA and the Red Cross are kicking off a nationwide series of workshops starting in Chicago to introduce a resilient communities initiative, focusing on educating our youth in disaster preparedness.

This workshop will provide participants with information on how their organization can integrate preparedness education into their program offerings. You will hear from experts who have developed and delivered some of the most successful youth preparedness programs across the country. In discussing their programs, they will discuss the following:
• Getting Started & Engaging Partners
• Identifying Curriculum
• Implementing Program
• Promoting Program • Sustainment & Evaluation

All participants will receive a “how to” guide for implementing preparedness programs as well as a catalog of youth preparedness resources. Training is June 24, 2011
