JARC Welding Training

JARC is announcing a new Welding Training to begin in late July and run year round. We are currently recruiting the first class. The first step in applying to the program is to attend an orientation. The next orientation will be held on July 6^th at 9am at 4432 N. Ravenswood. Registration is not necessary. In order to qualify for this FREE training, applicants must be WIA eligible.

This 10 week training will focus primary on MIG welding and will offer AWS certification as well as Forklift licensing and OSHA general industry classes. In addition, JARC will help students with support services such as weekly CTA fare cards and job placement assistance. Free Food for Kids this Summer!

The greater Chicago Food Depository's Summer Lunch Bus delivers healthy meals to the city of Chicago.

What: The greater Chicago Food Depository's summer Lunch Bus will travel to locations throughout Chicago each weekday to distribute free and nutritious meals. Meal service will last approximately 20 minutes at each site.

All meals must be eaten on-site.

Who: Children ages 1-18

When: June 20 to September 2
(except July 4th)
Monday through Friday

Where: Inner-city Muslim Action network (IMAN)
2744 w. 63rd Street
10:30-10:50 a.m.

Doctor, Dental, & WIC appointments for individuals with Medicaid Insurance.

There are two steps in successfully using our services:

1)Call First Transit several days in advance to receive approval for utilizing our transportation service st 1-877-725-0569 or 1-866-503-9040

2) Then call UHSC at 773-776-7349 or 847-962-1744 to establish the appointment with or agency's driver.

Safety For All

"Safety for All: Addressing Anti-LGBTQ Bullying in Illinois Schools" Presented by: Shannon Sullivan, MPH Executive Director of Illinois Safe Schools Alliance

Learning objectives include: Education on how adolescents develop and the effect of homophobia and heterosexism on youth, education on the level of violence towards LGBTQ youth in schools and the effect on learning, and to provide tools to be used for the safety and support of LGBTQ youth and other students affected by homophobia and heterosexism.
