People's City Council

""We Want Our Money Back, for Our Schools, Our Housing, and Our Jobs."

This is a great opportunity for civic action and community participation. We will be talking to our elected officials about the core issues of living wage jobs, affordable housing, public safety and quality public schools, and connect our issues to questions of revenue. With the 2012 City of Chicago budget and CPS budget heating up, we know that our communities are all going to face major cuts unless we talk about revenue sources from the corporations and banks that got us in this mess in the first place.

The idea of July 7th is to get as many aldermen in the room as possible, and show that there is a city-wide, organized base of community and labor that cares about these issues, and that will be working to make sure that working families come before a corporate agenda. The theme is ""We Want Our Money Back, for Our Schools, Our Housing, and Our Jobs."

Please come out and show Chicago's Alderman our strength in numbers. Buses will leave from SWYC and Center of Change and take us to UIC Forum were we will meet up with 1000 other folks from across the city.

When: THURSDAY, JULY 7TH, Doors open @ 5:30pm
Where: UIC Forum

Bus leaves 6400 S. Kedzie at 4:30pm and
Bus leaves 2749 W. 63rd at 4:30pm

A Better Life- screening!

Join the I-PAC family for a private, free screening of "A Better Life" on Wednesday, July 6 in Chicago.

We all know that a key component of wining the battle for rational and ethical reform is influencing the hearts and minds of our country. Popular culture matters and movies influence culture. That is why we are excitted to invite our supporters to join us for a free screening of "A Better Life."

This major motion picture by Director Chris Weitz (About A Boy, Twilight: New Moon) tells the modern immigrant story. A gardener in East L.A. (Demain Bichir) struggles to keep his son away from gangs and immigration agents while trying to give him the opportunities he never had.

The film opened last week in Los Angeles and New York and will be coming to Chicago soon. This is a major studio release and we hope to engage our community by making sure our supporters get a chance to see the film.

If you can join us, please RSVP to info@immigrationpac.org with the subject line "A Better Life." Seating is limited, so please RSVP soon and only if you plan on attending. Limit 2 people per pass.
