The South West Community HIV/AIDS Awareness day is a community event leading up to National HIV testing Day on June 27, 2011. This event seeks to bring together people of all ages in a safe space to learn and discuss how to reduce the impact of the HIV/AIDS on the entire community regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, religion or culture. There will be rapid HIV testing provided by South Shore Hospital on a first come first serve basis from 4-6pm and HIV 101 workshops presented by Universal Family Connection Inc. The day is open to all community members regardless of age but youth are encouraged to attend. The day is hosted in collaboration with The Chicago Department of Family Support Services, Youth Ready Chicago Community Council Region 5, The South West Youth Collaborative, and Universal Family Connection Inc.
